Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Year of the Tiger!
What a great evening. My bestest buddy Essie invited me to a Chinese New Year Dumpling Making Party at her house tonight. Her roommate Lin Lin, who is lovely, is from Taiwan so she wanted to host the party. Her family lives in Taiwan so she couldn't celebrate with them. Oh my goodness, it was so fun and delicious. We made about 400 dumplings altogether. The different flavors were pork, shrimp&spinach, mushroom, and assorted veggie. The assorted veggie was my favorite. It was a mixture of different root vegetables, ginger, garlic, & edamame. The wrappers were either whole wheat or spinach. Then there was a soy sauce or spicy sweet&sour sauce Lin Lin made for dipping. So stuffed and such good company. Sometimes its nice to go to a party where you really don't know many people and you make all new friends and acquaintances. Lovely, Lovely night.

Bird of the Day: Excitedly awaiting my order of clothing I ordered off line to be delivered. I rarely do that online shopping thing, but please a sweater with a whale on it, I couldn't resist.

Turd of the Day: My money managing skills really were sub-par this month. Im down to three dollars until I get paid this Tuesday. That's an all time low for me. Opps.

Its a rainy night in Georgia, feels like it must be raining all over the world.

As I walked out of Blue Jay Cafe tonight and back to my car I felt a wave of contentness and appreciation rush over me. I had just finished a delicious meal of cobb salad, corn muffins, and two heffenweizens. My lovely PS family had had a mini reunion all in the name of raising a few dollars for Haiti. Now headed home I was getting drenched in pouring down rain (I had forgotten my umbrella) and, it had never felt this good before. The streetlights illuminated puddles and streams as the water rushed down Golden Gate St. The rain was coming down so evenly and constant that it felt calm. Everything felt right in the city, in my body, and in my mind. It was nice. I happily made my way home soaked to my toes, of course I had worn my old converse today. Now I will finish my evening reading in my comfy, warm bed listening to the rain fall outside. Life feels good tonight.

Bird of the Day: My brother got a new, promotion/job at Whole Foods today! He's a team leader now which in WF language means he's a manager. Im so happy for him!!!!

Turd of the Day: Not everyone in my beloved city has a warm, comfy bed to crawl into on this rain soaked night.

tattoo

Got a tattoo of this yesterday. It was much more painful then my last tattoo, dont know why. It does have alot of black detail the lovely tattoo woman explained to me. So very happy with it.

Bird of the Day: Got a new parking spot that is 24hours and cheaper than my last. very excited about that.

Turd of the Day: My room is an unorganized mess that is spiraling out of control.  I dont know where to start to make a dent. I wonder if this is symbolic of something in my life, idunno.

movies

Gonna try to get back at this, am inspired by my friend Linney who just started a blog. Lately  I have become obsessed with movies. In the last two months I have cut my drinking in half (at least) and have securely replaced it with watching movies. I guess its a good trade. Im happy with it. I am also growing more and more obsessed with subtitled movies. I find listening to a different language lulls me into a very comforting state and then having to focus on reading the subtitles makes me pay attention. It allows me to get fully engulfed in the movie and leave my mind almost completely which I love.

Bird of the Day: being excited for tomorrow.

Turd of the Day: being nervous for tomorrow.

Single and looking to slam my head on the floor

Well its been a rough week, breaking up with your boyfriend will do that. I hate having to do the right thing. And again Im alone. And again I feel a thousand miles from another person.

Turd of the Day: the freezing weather and the fact that my apartment at best stays as warm as a refrigerator.

I dont want to

Thanksgiving...I love food so this is my kind of holiday. For me Thanksgiving is stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, potatoes, green salad, rolls, pumpkin pie, black olives and little dill pickles. Just to name a few. I can't wait. For me it is not about eating a lovely turkey that has been raised and slaughtered to please my fat gut. Im thankful that I realize that Im not that important in this grand world. Im just one critter on a rock with a whole bunch of other critters and  I don't want to take away anyone or things short time they have here. Im thankful I have a mother who will prepare a vegetarian Thanksgiving because she loves me and she loves critters too.

Turd of the Day: Wells Fargo...they still haven't reimbursed me for the $900 that was wrongfully charged on my account when my wallet was stolen. You-WF have millions of dollars, I- longtime customer have had $75  to my name for 2 weeks now because you wont give me my $. Seems fair.

Bird of the Day: "Corwin"!!!!! He's a cute little conure that came into my work yesterday because a parrot had bit his top beak clean off. Poor little guy. And unbelievably this is the 5th case of beak biting off incidents we have treated this year. He had a prosthetic beak put on surgically today and is doing well. What a little champion!

Day 1

How exciting the first post. I've been thinking about doing a blog that will be a glimpse into the crazy ramblings of my mind.  My thoughts  generally consist of food, animals, friends, art, and insanity. Most days I spend half the day thinking Im completely messed up and half the time thinking I just figured it all out hence- turds and birds. I will try to appreciate both the good and the bad of my obsessive, wacky mind.

Turd of the Day: the god damn Marina. Went there to buy some cards from my ol' PS. Decided to eat lunch at Squat and Gobble. I got Huevos Rancheros for the first time I think in my whole life. Pretty good...can't eat enough eggs and tortillas lately. Anyway I was sandwiched between two girl Marina 30 somethings at one table and a lawyer type guy and his mother on the other. Made me want to slam my head on the table. What bothers me most is I try to not  judge people I don't know, so it sucks that my lunch was spent doing just that.

Bird of the Day: It's my mom's bday! And really if she wasn't in my life I would be a puddle in the corner of the room. So thank goodness for today!

Alright it's 10:30 also known as bed time...no joke.
